My Writing Journey

About the Author

Hello everyone. I am Rudrani. I grew up in Leigh, Lancashire, but my family is originally from Andhra Pradesh, in South India.

I am a medical graduate but I currently work for the transcription service at

Kirklees Council; I am also a member and Co-chair of the Tyldesley Creative Writers Group, and I have a YouTube channel. I have always been passionate about creative writing and from the age of eleven, I started getting my work published.

Writing runs in my family: my father, Dr Vivekananda Murthy Kadiyala, is a renowned writer in Telugu. And

my late maternal grandfather, Sri Satyanarayana Murthy Chavali, was an English professor who wrote Hindu religious books in English, and moral stories for the youth.

I write short stories, poems, essays, memoirs, and monologues. I have had four books published: short stories, poetry, moral stories, and my debut novel.

I have also had several articles published in Telugu magazines in the UK and in my writers' groups' anthologies.

My first book published in 2021, is a short story book - Troubled Waters - Stories of Love, Life and Strife. My second book published in 2021, is called Words from the Heart - A Collection of Poems, and the illustrations are by a famous Telugu artist, the late Sri Bapu; and one illustration is by my younger son, Abhiram Bhamidimarri. The third book published in 2022, is called Nightwatcher - A Collection of Moral Stories, and these are on adaptation of stories originally written by my late maternal grandfathers. The fourth book published in 2025, is my novel: Patronage. It is set in South India. There are two love stories: one set in the 1970s and the other in the 1990s through to the 2000s. It is a story of love, betrayal, power, and explores human relations and emotions.

TROUBLED WATERS

TROUBLED WATERS

"I asked for patronage, not a hand in marriage."

Set at the turn of the Millennium in Southern India, this is a captivating story exploring the shades of love and human relations.

Badri is a renowned veterinarian and a devoted father. Unable to forget his past and vexed with married life, he makes a life-changing decision in the hope of attaining solace and succour.

Lalitha, his beautiful and naive daughter, is caught up between her parents' rift, and is left feeling abandoned by her much-adored father. When her mother's greed and selfishness threatens her chances of fulfilling her ambitions, she is forced to seek the aid of her friend and neighbour - a wealthy powerful and charismatic man, eighteen years her elder. But his help comes with a hefty price; having no other option, she reluctantly agrees.

"I have sold my soul to the Devil!"

Only, years later she finds herself trapped between love and loyalty. Which should she choose?
